One Month!
20 Jun 2007 06:16 pmI just noticed it is my one month anniversary of joining lj and starting to write every day, and I feel quite proud of myself. I committed to a certain level of writing, and have stuck with it so far (not long I know, but good for me). Considering that my RL has been completely hectic (end of school year, seated on a jury for jury duty, SO in production on feature film right now. eep.) I am really pleased with how things here have been going. Not to mention that I have met so many wonderful people and felt so welcome. *warm fuzzies*
I think I will take this opportunity to archive various drabbles that are out and about in various comms that I have not cross-posted here, to have a complete record of all of my writing and art here so far. YAY! Let's hope I find them all...

A/N: Well this one came out quick.
He didn’t know it would be then.
Images flooded his mind in that instant: the stack of unmarked essays for the fourth years, the tea kettle set to boil, the History of Curses left open by his bed, reading glasses dropped casually into the pages when he had risen to answer the door. Those letters bundled in his nightstand. His half-written reply. The pile of wash.
But here he was. He had vowed, to many, and all of those things no longer mattered.
He raised his wand in the cool air on the Tower, and put it all behind him

Characters: BadPrefect!Lupin, Sirius
Challenge: "Hey, what did you do that for?"
“Hey, what did you do that for?” Remus grabbed Sirius’s arm as they left the lakeside.
“Do what?”
“Wind him up like that? He was just sitting there.”
“I don’t know, Moony,” replied Sirius. “Why? Want to go comfort your new best friend on his hurt feelings?”
“You know he’s not…”
“What is it then? True love? Moony and Snivellus? Should I send wedding invites?”
Remus felt himself redden.
“I just think you should leave him alone.”
“I will,” Sirius said.
“Good. Thanks,” Remus replied.
“As soon as he stops being an obnoxious prat.”
Remus sighed, watching him walk away

Alone in the northern wilderness, Remus woke to the persistent pecking of a post-owl. Isolated for transformation, he was planning to stay and gather rare potions’ ingredients for the Order.
The owl brought two issues of the Daily Prophet. He stretched his battered body, breathed deeply in the crisp morning air, unrolled the newspapers.
Thirteen Dead With One Curse, screamed the headline. Then a photo of Sirius, chained, dead-eyed, laughing maniacally.
Remus felt his blood drain away, pool at his feet. He did not breathe.
“What is this?” he said aloud.
He reached for the paper from the day before.

Challenge: Protest

Characters: Marauders
Sirius thought of it, and James, inspired, made little signs, index cards and popsicle sticks. Remus sat aside, smiling but apprehensive. He might misinterpret this. He does that sometimes.
The slogans read: No Rat but a True Rat, Keep the Rat World Pure, and United Rats Against Wormtail! They laid them out at the foot of Peter’s bed like a rodent-sized protest march.
Peter laughed when he saw them, but Remus, watching closely, noted that other fleeting expressions passed over his face first: uncertainty, distrust, shame. He thinks we’re mocking him, Remus thought. And then he thought, Well, aren’t we?

Title: A New Look

Word Count: 100

Characters: Remus/Severus
Challenge: "Just do it"
A/N: Another light domestic drabble...
As Remus moved closer , scissors in hand, Severus pulled back, scowl firmly set.
“There’s no choice. It’ll be over quickly,” said Remus.
“Never again,” Severus said. “They are not invited to my home ever again.”
“Our home. And yes, they are. Harry made us their god-parents,” Remus replied.
He gently pulled his fingers through Severus’s dark hair, to where the clump of bubble gum was stuck. Even their best attempts at magically removing it had failed.
“Just do it,” snapped Severus, jaw clenched.
The silver scissors snipped through the thick hair.
“We are never having children,” snarled Severus.

The bookstore cat was rasping her soft fur with her tongue, the meticulous cleaning catching Remus’s eye. She was curled on a stool near Severus, who was nose-deep in a tome called Defensive Hexes.
The initial awkwardness of their dinner together had dissipated. Remus’s suggestion of an after-supper stroll to Flourish and Blott’s was a success, and anticipation was building. They’d been browsing for an hour. It was time.
He sidled up behind Severus, touched his shoulders, leaned in, and ran his tongue along the soft skin below his ear. Severus stiffened, then relaxed.
“It was the cat’s idea,” Remus whispered.
So, that means I've posted 15 drabbles, one piece of art, and two longer fics on
lupin_snape, plus I am halfway through my first draft of a Snupin retelling of "Twelfth Night" for
shakes_that_fic. YAY!
That's cool.
I enjoy summing up.
But really, the best part of all this has been meeting all of you and reading and viewing your amazing work. *awed* Thanks for being so welcoming and inspiring. Now, back to writing... :-)

Date: 26 Jun 2007 05:51 am (UTC)Ooo, do you ever beta? As I get sections of the Twelfth Night thingy written, I'd love to have a duel snupin/shakespeare expert beta take a look. Obviously the Twelfth Night stuff will be a loose interpretation, but I still want to follow the spirit of the plot and characters. I feel pretty good about my HP casting and how it is going so far. Let me know if you are interested, and I totally understand if you are not or are too busy. Either way, yay Shakespeare Snupin! :)

Date: 26 Jun 2007 03:58 pm (UTC)But yeah I'd love to look it over! =3 I've read the play a few times when I was younger, saw all interpretations of it in movie format (even that awful "she's the man" version XD), and I still have a copy of it lying around in case I need to double check things. *flails* =D So when you're ready, just send it over to dianamoon(at)gmail(dot)com and I'll get to it asap~!
