Hi again!
My summer of fandom floating continues. Sherlock! Avengers! The Voice! Top Gun!?!
So now...I just watched Torchwood (I know, finally) for the first time (seasons 1 to 3). I mean, I knew at the time that I should be watching it, but I just had no time. So instead, I've fallen madly in love now, years late. MADLY. MADLY. MADLY IN LOVE. So I've been reading fic like a mad fic reader, because the show is so damn elusive and frustrating and (consistently, maddeningly) shows you scenes in one room when you really want to see the scene happening in the room next door, or five minutes later, or the next day, or whatever. So, fic.

So, my question: Anyone out there want to rec me some great Jack/Ianto?? I've read a lot in the last few days, but I just know that there must be some (more) epic and wonderful shit out there. And I want it all. *greedygrabbyhands* Really excellent Fix-It fics are especially welcome.

In HP land, I'm considering doing one fest this holiday season if I can get my writing mojo back?? One can hope.

Also, hi! *hugs all* Send me Jack/Ianto fics recs. *smooch*

WHEEEEE! Cedar fic! Snupin, yes? Pleeeeeeze????

Torchwood - OMG, yes! Love the series, even with all its flaws, but never read fic for it. Now, you did meet Jack in Dr. Who, right? RIGHT? First series (ninth Doctor), episodes 9 and 10; The Empty Child ("Are you my Mummy?") and The Doctor Dances? OMG! *flails* If you think Jack and Ianto have chemistry, try Jack and Nine. ("So many species, so little time.")

Of course, John Barrowman could have chemistry with a tree stump, but that's beside the point. Or maybe it isn't. ;)

Have to admit that one of my favorite quotes from TW did not involve Jack.

"What is that smell?"
"That'd be grass."
(Lordy that episode scares me - every time I watch it!)

If YOU write TW fic, I'll read it!

Well shit, smoke, you've confirmed what I suspected to be true, that now I (finally) have to get into Who, which somehow I haven't yet...:) I fail in my geek status, eh?

Glad to find you all a-squee as well! I'm rewatching a bunch, which I'm really enjoying, and adds to all the fun details in some of all the fic I've been plowing through. and yes, I have not actually finished that scary scary episode yet- only part I haven't watched...got too creeped out.

Ha! I'd love to hear Severus and Remus chatter in my head again, but they've been so quiet...and I feel completely inadequate to the task of writing TW (at this point) due to my lack of Who-ish-ness, but damn I enjoy that world so who know?

I'll get something going...I WILL. Love to you, and I'll keep you posted once I get going with Who. Which, who am I kidding, will be today. :)

I used to read tons of TW fic (it's the fandom that stole me away from HP all those years ago). There's some really great stuff. The flaws and gaps in the canon, as well as the overall brilliance and the range of genres and tones, really inspire creativity. This is just a drive-by visit, so I'm going to resist the temptation to look through my bookmarks and start reccing individual fics. But, if you go to my LJ memories, I seem to have over 80 fics bookmarked under "TW fic." *cough* (Fyi, I mostly ship Jack/Ianto, but am also fond of gen ensemble fics, Jack/Doctor, and Jack/any other sentient being, especially historical figures.)

During the heyday of the fandom, there was a superb recs site: torchwood_house

And here are some of my favorite TW writers (whom you may have encountered in other fandoms):
copperbadge aka sam_storyteller (especially for post-COE fix-its)
nancybrown (also has great fix-it fics)
amand_r (wildly imaginative--can't even begin to categorize...)
heddychaa aka hauldyourwhist (dark, psychological, explicit Jack/Ianto fics)
blue_fjords (cute, funny ensemble fics and Jack/Ianto)
neifile7 aka filomena (not sure if her stuff is still up, but she writes amazing historical fiction about Jack in other times)
azn_jack_fiend (darkly funny Jack-centric fics, often historical settings)
pocky_slash (mainly gen fics focusing on Gwen & Ianto friendship)

Enjoy! And drop me a line to let me know if you liked any of these fics.

By the way, I have read a lot of copperbadge already and three of his short fics, inparticular, are seriously living in my mind and making me so happy. But I think everyone else on the list will be NEW FOR ME!! Whee!

You have read Sam's Trying to Communicate, right? If not, run do not walk, to that link.

YAY! My favorite of Sam's short TW fics is "Care and Feeding" (the one about how Jack's coat is alive...). Sam's long TW fics are also wonderful. And I hope you'll enjoy some of the other authors. Just in case, here's the link to the recs community: http://torchwood-house.livejournal.com

So far my favorite Sam short fics I've read are The Edge of the Roof, Sleeping My Way to the Top, and No Word For Yes. I've read all three many times already, just indulging in the voice and the romance. Mmmm.

I'll track down the coat one...there is another coat kink one that I really enjoyed. SO MUCH TO READ!
