Well, I wrote another In the Flesh fic, so I'll post here again, just in case any of you are tempted...

Title: Betwixt and Between
Summary: It is still hanging there, between them, the unanswered question.
"You left. I searched everywhere for you. Where did you go?"
Pairing, Characters: Simon/Kieren, Jem, Sue, Steve, Shirley, Tom, a few others referenced
Length: 4100 words
Rated: PG-13
Warnings/Tags: Simon POV, post-series 2, angst, developing relationship

So there's that! I'm proud of it, but it sure needs a brit-pick...I'm so lazy about betas now. What has happened to me??

I was up really late last night watching various Robin Williams scenes and interviews, shedding some tears. It's always odd to feel sad over the loss of someone you only know through their work, but this one really got me...so many really influential moments in my life have a corresponding Robin Williams film, from Popeye as a child, to Good Morning Vietnam when I was just starting to understand how much I love the exploration of war through art (that was middle school) to Dead Poets as an angsty teen, to Fisher King in high school (god, seeing that movie has a life changing story with it for me...) I even have this crystal clear memory from very small childhood of being at my friends house and watching a video of his stand-up, and during the entended riff on the name of his penis ("Mr. Happy"), I had this epiphany that I must be growing up since I was allowed to watch this now.

Take care of each other. *hugsyou*

I never knew that Robin Williams was bi-polar! I thought he was medicating with cocaine for ADD and that caused a lot of problems, but I didn't realize how ill he was. I'm upset about this, too. Shocking. I never was comfortable about his vulgar body humor, it always felt like cheap shots when he was obviously capable of much more (and I never wanted to think about his cock and balls at all). I greatly enjoy his straight acting roles like Awakenings, and Bicentennial Man. I adored the video of him 'talking' and tickling with Koko the gorilla. She appreciated a human who was as hairy as she was. :)
He was terribly talented. *le sigh* His poor daughter.
(I hate to say this out loud lest I make a stronger connection in my head between them, but the older Dan Radcliffe gets, the more he looks like Robin Williams. In a few years, I could see Dan doing a biopic of William's early career.)

I loved your story, and left a comment at AO3. *hugs*

Ha! That's funny about Koko. :) I greatly admire that he let himself be hairy and on screen, such a real-body positive thing to do, very brave.
I live with a partner who struggles with bipolar and suicidal ideation, and we were talking today about how much he's always recognized Robin Wiliams as another person dealing with being sad all the time. Very tragic.
Most recent one that I forgot- Garp! I suspect a cathartic movie marathon will come out of all of this.

His mind was so quick and clever and agile that I found it almost frightening at times. I always wondered it he ever did, or even could, turn it off and just... rest. There also seemed to be a touch of the tragic in a lot of his work, and, to me, he had a sad face.

A gifted and generous man, who brought laughter to so many. He will be sorely missed.

Indeed, I've also wondered how and when he got down-time from all of that energy. *nods*

As I said to bk7 above, I think a memorial movie marathon will be in order. His filmography is simply full of many of my favorites- and I think it is a tribute to his skill as an actor that I don't love them as "Robin Williams movies," but instead just love them and he is a key part of them.

So lovely to see you, dear Smoke. Have you watched In the Flesh yet??? *nudges*
