He’d been growing the ridiculous fuzz on his lip for the last month.
“Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should,” Severus remarked.
“It’s an experiment. I think it looks good,” replied Remus. They were in the potions classroom. Severus was putting the finishing touches on the assignment they were working on, while Remus sat on the desk, swinging his long legs and watching him.
“No, it does not look good,” responded Severus. “It looks like a small, balding animal dying on your lip. It looks,” he paused, “itchy.”
“It’s not itchy, it feels fine.”
“Not itchy for you,” said Severus, eyes fixed on the cauldron, stirring carefully.
“Oh?” said Remus, eyebrows rising. “Who would this itchiness be a problem for then?”
Severus did not speak, but Remus could see a slight flush creep up from his chest. Remus smiled.
“Well, if there are no real complaints, then…”
Severus stood abruptly, wand in hand, and installed himself in the space between Remus’s legs, leaning in. Inches away, he muttered, “I’m trying to help you avoid embarrassment, Lupin.”
Remus relaxed towards him, smiling, allowing his lips to soften and open, lightly brushing Severus’s. He was too engrossed to pull away when he felt a slight pressure on his cheek from the tip of a wand. Severus whispered, “You are not getting any closer with that thing on your face,” followed by a firm, “Labicalvum!” Remus’s upper lip grew warm, then cool. He leaned back, fingered his now bare lip.
“Snape!”
Severus pressed his thin lips against Remus’s in a soft, urgent kiss, pulling his fingers through Remus’s thick hair. Remus gave in, increasing the pressure, opening his lips softly, allowing his tongue to flick out and meet Severus’s cool lips. Severus responded by turning his head, opening his mouth, tangling his tongue with Remus’s. Remus could feel the kiss on the bottoms of his feet, in the tips of his fingers. He raised his hands to Severus’s bony cheeks, suddenly aware of his lack of stubble, his smooth, soft skin.
“Well, perhaps there is something to say for being clean shaven,” Remus huffed, as they broke apart.
Severus leaned his forehead against Remus’s. “You’ll want to keep that off.” He licked Remus’s bare upper lip. Remus grinned.
“You talked me into it. Now that you mention it, it was a bit itchy.”
“As I thought,” said Severus, resuming his seat. Remus couldn’t help but note the self-satisfied smirk on those thin lips.
