I don't kid. [livejournal.com profile] celandineb wrote this wonderful, surreal, dream-like ficlet a few days ago, and it made me want to paint a surreal, dream-like painting. So I did. Read Cel's fic first.
Warnings for dark and surreal and non-typical fanart, but otherwise safe.

Here is the painting. If you click on the image, it gets a little bigger each time. (Flailing at uploading this at a decent size.)

I also zoomed in on the Tom/Harry detail.

This was painted with oil, and therefore could not be scanned, only photographed, so sorry about the quality. This still possibly a work in progress, as I'm not thrilled with all of it, but for now, here it is. Enjoy the weirdness.

Wow. OMG, this is so beautiful. I really don't have words... I had no idea you could paint and do artsy things like this, and omg, it's so fantastic.

Thanks so much, Lyv! Yay! I love to paint, but have rarely have the chance or motivation to in recent years- just one more reason I love lj! Suddenly I'm painting again. :-)

Oh, WOW! No, not quite how I envisioned it (how could it be? *g*) but simply stunning and very much the mood I hoped to convey in the fic itself. I love the crows especially, the way you have them blend with the islands and clouds as well as being by the bodies.

Could I possibly snag the image and put it with the fic on my website, and add a link from the fic on LJ?

Thanks so much! I'm so glad you like the mood of this, as that was what I was most inspired by in your fic. My painting skills are sorely out of practice, but this was fun to try.
I'd love it if you linked this up to the fic! *flattered*
I didn't mean to make islands, but now I see some of the dark clouds as islands myself. Interesting what is in strange abstract clouds that you don't see when making them... :-)
Thanks, Cel!

I've linked on LJ, and it's up on my website now too: here

I think the ambiguity of whether the lower part is sky or water just adds to the surreal feeling, so it worked really well even if it wasn't intentional. *g*

Thanks so much! Big sky and stark landscape have always been my favorite things to paint. I'm out of practice, but this was really enjoyable. :)

HOLY CRAP that's gorgeous and surreal and a bit creepy. XD Reminds me of that surrealist... Magritte? I think... XD
