I have low tolerance for heat, hence, I am a resident of the Pacific Northwest.
Where we have no air conditioning, because, why bother?
I cannot do 95+ degrees all week. I simply can't. You hear that, weather?? I CAN'T. *melts*

I'd go down to the local air-conditioned book store right now and sit there browsing, except that the idea of getting in my no-air-conditioning oven car to drive the three minutes sounds so horrific that I can hardly stand it.

What? I should go anyway? You are right. *tries to move*

I loathe the heat.

ETA: I'm not just whiny- apparently Wednesday might be the hottest day EVER here. Good grief.

Welcome to my world. It's 9:00 pm and only now settling down into the lower 90s.

That said, I feel your pain. I was visiting friends in Oregon during the 2004 heat wave. 95-degrees sucks WAY worse when you don't have A/C and nobody knows how to deal with the heat. (Thus my decision to bring a window unit with me should I ever be lucky enough to move to the PNW.)

Could you flee to the coast till the worst is over? Pacific Ocean = natural AC.

Come here, to the Pacific Northwest of, er, New England! It's been cloudy and rainy and temperate all summer--your weather displaced a few thousand miles. *fans you* M.

Sounds like you're in the Caribbean! ;o)

Poor thing, I hope the heat breaks for you soon.

*switches on portable a/c and cranks up the fan speed to 11 ! *

Yeah, it's crazy! We're having a heatwave here in BC too & my department has decided to close early until further notice because the offices get intolerably hot. Thank god for linen trousers is all I can say...

Yeah, you stole our weather. (Not that I'm complaining. At all.) Here we're getting record lows for July - it's been in the 50s, 60s... it's just now getting back up into the 80s and maybe, possibly cracking 90 this week.

I love it. But I'm sorry that apparently our weather got stuck up there.

Lord I hate hot and muggy! I'm assuming it's muggy there, as you tend to be rather damp. As Maggie says, we've been having a bit more rain and clouds than usual here. Not complaining, if I don't get the lawn mowed, well, it'll die back next winter.

I don't have AC either. My bedroom is on the first floor, which helps. Also, if your house is fairly well insulated, open everything up at night, then close it during the day, and draw the curtains. If it's cooling off at night, that is, and if you live in a neighborhood where you can do that.

A lot of businesses have AC now, at least all the new ones. My friend who works for the state said they don't, and they get sent home if the temp in the offices got above... 100.

When I read your post I started wondering about something. Then Maggie's post pushed the question more. Why is your side of the country the Pacific Northwest, and we're the Northeast? Is there another Northwest? Why aren't we the Atlantic Northeast? Just wondering. It's starting to get hot; 90s again today.

My car has AC; came that way, and I do use it half dozen times a year, mostly when(if) I take a trip. (Like Friday's trip to Boston to see HBP at IMAX with friends!) There have been times when I've been tempted to just go for a drive so I can be in the AC, but my environmental correctness prevails. Just usually flop in front of a fan with a book.

Hang in! It won't last.
